The Parrot Valley (Valle de los Loros) and Poc Poc Waterfall

Starting from the impressive farming terraces of Chinchero, this trek traverses ancient sections of the Qhapaq Ñan (the Inka Trail) and enters the mythical Parrot Valley (Valle de los Loros), surrounded by majestic mountain ranges. This fertile canyon is home to a rich diversity of native flora and fauna. Along the route, we will take a scenic detour to the stunning Poc Poc waterfall, a beautiful cascade hidden deep inside the ravine. Itinerary:

We will travel from Cusco toward the historic district of Chinchero, in the Urubamba province, on a scenic drive of about one hour. At 9:00 AM, we will make our first stop next to the grand terraces of Chinchero. Here, we will share a local breakfast and perform a brief Andean permission ritual using coca leaves to connect with the Apus and ensure a safe, protected walk.

We will then begin our descent following the ancient Inka pathway. At approximately 11:00 AM, we will arrive at the hidden Poc Poc waterfall, a serene, sacred space perfect for resting, cooling off, and absorbing the vital energy of the water. After a period of quiet contemplation, we will head toward a natural viewpoint facing the mountains to share a light snack in total tranquility.

Finally, we will resume our trail as it winds deeper through the Parrot Valley, enjoying the transition into a warmer microclimate and lush vegetation until we reach the peaceful countryside community of Urquillos in the heart of the Sacred Valley.
