Itinerary:
We will depart at 8:00 AM from the meeting point in Urubamba to head toward the trailhead in Pumahuanca. Before starting the hike, we will provide a brief overview of the route and have time to get our gear ready.
We will begin our ascent through the Pumahuanca Forest, one of the most beautiful natural environments in the Sacred Valley. It is characterized by its native vegetation, crystal-clear water streams, and the presence of queuñas (polylepis) trees on the higher sections of the trail. Throughout the journey, we will walk along ancient bridle paths surrounded by mountains and open views of the valley.
Mid-morning, we will pause to rest and share a snack while enjoying the pristine natural environment and the soothing sound of the running water that accompanies most of our route.
We will continue ascending until we reach the Chupani sector, a high and serene area that offers breathtaking mountain vistas and showcases the transition between the Andean forest and high-altitude zones. Here, we will have ample time to rest, enjoy lunch, and take in the surroundings.
Afterward, we will begin our return journey along the same trail, descending once again through the Pumahuanca Forest.
