The hike to Yanacocha Lagoon is an ideal experience for discovering the high Andean landscapes of the Sacred Valley. Located in the community of Huayoccari, this dark-water lagoon—whose name in Quechua means “black lagoon”—is surrounded by mountains, Andean fields, and traditional paths that preserve the tranquility of rural Cusco life.
Before reaching the lagoon, the trail traverses a beautiful forest of queuñas (polylepis), native Andean trees that create a unique and vibrant landscape in the middle of the mountain. The route offers panoramic views of the valley and a deep experience connecting with nature and traditional Andean paths.
