Yanahuara Forest, Urubamba

An Encounter with the Forest. This ancient grove of native trees, such as the unka, is located in the district of Urubamba. It is ancestral because its trees, stones, and plants display their living memory.

The trail winds through native vegetation, ravines, and mountain landscapes, offering a deep experience of connection with nature and peace in the heart of the Andes. From different points along the way, it is also possible to take in panoramic views of the valley and the surrounding peaks.

Itinerary:

We will walk for about 30 minutes to reach the heart of the forest. There, we will make a 20-minute stop to express our gratitude to the forest, observing and connecting with ancestral trees like the unka and local flora. Afterward, we will continue our route for 45 minutes, crossing through the woods to reach a gentle stream.

The purpose is to walk slowly, keeping our senses wide open to observe and breathe in the forest air, noticing what our senses perceive. We will observe how our bodies communicate with the forest. All of these exercises will help us find the “essence” of the woods, connecting us with a deep sense of joy and calm.

Finally, we will arrive at a wonderful natural pool in the river that invites us for a refreshing dip, where we will also share a light snack.
